The Role: 

As a WHS Adviser, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe workplace by effectively implementing the Kane WHS Management System (WHSMS). This is a roaming position, covering construction sites across Geelong, Regional West, and potentially Melbourne. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Ensure a safe work environment by identifying hazards and implementing control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Kane WHSMS across projects. 
  • Review and update Project Risk Assessments and WHS Management Plans, ensuring effective control measures are in place. 
  • Lead weekly safety walks, manage the resolution of identified issues, and document meeting minutes. 
  • Develop and present weekly Toolbox Talks in collaboration with the Site Manager. 
  • Review permits for all activities in accordance with the WHSMS. 
  • Conduct quarterly WHSMS audits across project sites. 
  • Investigate and report incidents, including LTIs, MTIs, and notifiable events. 
  • Support Kane project teams in fulfilling their WHS responsibilities as outlined in the WHSMS. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety standards across the business. 
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by management. 
About You 

You are a tertiary-qualified WHS professional with extensive experience in workplace health and safety, specifically within the construction industry. Your ability to build strong working relationships, influence key stakeholders, and uphold Kane Construction’s high safety standards will be critical to your success in this role. 

Key attributes include: 
  • Proven experience in WHS within the construction sector. 
  • Strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills. 
  • A proactive approach and a commitment to best practices in workplace safety. 
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and collaborate effectively with project teams.
